As
if a
60th year, recovering from a heart attack and
defeating cancer weren't enough, I've decided it would be a good idea
to travel across India on a 50's style motorbike. That's what Enduro
India
has
in store for me as I
swap the rolling hills of the
Suffolk
countryside for the sights, sounds, smells and snakes of India.
Not to mention trying to dodge over a billion innocent
bystanders!
What is Enduro India?
The
Enduro
India Challenge is
to ride 'dusk till dawn' across 2000km
of unpredictable Indian terrain on a 1950's style Royal Enfield Bullet
motorcycle (now built in Madras). The test of endurance, in similar
style to the Dakar Rally, will see us follow the gruelling roads and
trails of Southern India - from Goa on the West Coast to Cochin in the
South. In all we'll tackle the Western Ghat Mountains, desert
plains, protected wildlife reserves and ancient forests of Karnataka,
Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
Where you come in...
In recognition of this great opportunity I will be funding the trip myself. What I'd like your help with is raising my target of £5000 towards Enduro India's chosen charities. All sponsorship raised from the challenge will go to the Rainbow Trust, UNICEF (The United Nations Children's Fund) and the WCS (Wildlife Conservation Society).
